Maine Children's Home Lobster Lunch Raises over $2,400 for Christmas Program

The Maine Children's Home for Little Wanderers, the nonprofit agency that operates the state's longest-running adoption program announced that it raised $2,403 as part of their annual Lobster Roll fundraiser on October 15. The event was generously supported by a major donation of 100 pounds of lobster meat from the Cozy Harbor Seafood Company in Portland.

To raise money from the Lobster Roll lunch fundraiser, Maine Children's Home for Little Wanderers' employees and volunteers pre-sold the lobster rolls to local businesses and organizations in the greater Waterville area at $10 each with 100 percent of the proceeds going to help fund the agency's Christmas Program.

The Christmas Program distributes boxes of gifts and clothing to approximately 1,600 financially disadvantaged children throughout the state. It is the only program of its kind that provides new toys, books, games and new, warm clothing to boys and girls throughout Maine.

"We are very grateful for the support of Cozy Harbor Seafood and our volunteers that worked tirelessly to make this event possible. The support from the community has been outstanding this year and the money raised will help make Christmas brighter for children in the area," said Stephen Mayberry, development director at the Maine Children's Home for Little Wanderers.

Leading up to the event, the Cozy Harbor Seafood Company awarded a donation of 100 pounds of lobster meat to help off-set costs for the Lobster Roll fundraiser.  Based in Portland, the Cozy Harbor Seafood company buys, processes and distributes premium-quality fresh fish, lobster tails and lobster meat, live lobster, ready-to-cook seafood and case-ready seafood throughout the U.S, Canada and in parts of Europe.

Later this week, the Maine Children's Home for Little Wanderers will host their "Passion for Fashion" fundraiser on Thursday, October 21 at the Hathaway Creative Center in Waterville from 6-9 p.m. The event will include dinner, a fashion show, bachelor auction, cash bar, door prizes & raffles, free gift for every ticket holder. Tickets are $25 and are available at Earthbound, the Maine Children's Home, and Millennium Styling Salon.
