3rd Annual Ray Haskell Ford Fishing Derby Raises $1,700 for The Maine Children's Home for Little Wan

WATERVILLE, Maine - Despite the rain and cold temperatures, Mainers showed their passion for fishing and support for the Maine Children's Home for Little Wanderers on Sunday, March 6, 2011 as part of the 3rd Annual Ray Haskell Ford Fishing Derby. The weigh-in for the statewide derby was held at Coyote's Country Bar and raised $1,700 to benefit The Maine Children's Home, a nonprofit agency that operates Maine's longest-running adoption program.

The event marked the culmination of a statewide fishing derby and silent auction featuring items from local merchants. In total, the event paid out over $1,500 in cash and prizes. Over the past three years, the event has raised $8,200 for the Maine Children's Home for Little Wanderers.

"This annual event has become a great way for families and kids to come together and raise awareness for our agency and services. The passion and commitment from all the participants is remarkable and we are so grateful for their support," says Mayberry. "The funds from this event will help to support adoption services as well as our counseling services, teen parenting programs and early childhood care," said Steve Mayberry, development director at the Maine Children's Home for Little Wanderers.
