Golf Tournament Benefits Meals on Wheels for Central Maine Seniors

Join Spectrum Generations on Monday, June 10th for the 11th Annual Golf Tournament to benefit Meals on Wheels in central Maine.

Spectrum Generations prepares and delivers 200,524 meals to more than 1,600 home bound seniors in central Maine who depend on Meals on Wheels for their nutrition.  Recent federal budget cuts have forced the non-profit, for the first time in forty years, to create a waiting list of those in need.  For many who are homebound, there is no other place to turn for help.

You can help! Take a swing out of senior hunger by sponsoring and playing in this year’s tournament. Proceeds benefit Spectrum Generations’ nutrition programs - Meals on Wheels, AniMeals, and We Sustain Maine.

Stroke Awareness Month Presentation

Spectrum Generations is pleased to host a free Stroke Awareness presentation by Dr. Xabier Beristain of MaineGeneral Neurology on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 from 5:00pm to 6:00pm at the Cohen Community Center located at 22 Town Farm Road in Hallowell.

Stroke is the third leading cause of death in Maine and over 3,000 Maine residents are hospitalized each year due to stroke. The sooner a stroke patient receives treatment, the more likely that disability and long-term brain damage may be avoided. Spectrum Generations and MaineGeneral Health encourages those interested to attend Dr. Beristain’s presentation to learn the signs of a stroke, find out what causes stroke and what to do if you or a loved one have symptoms of a stroke.
