AUGUSTA, MAINE - The 70th Annual Maine Agricultural Trades Show will be held Tuesday, January 11, through Thursday, January 13, at the Augusta Civic Center. More than 5,000 people from around the state will attend the 2011 Trades Show, one of the state’s largest agricultural events.
The show, hosted by the Maine Department of Agriculture, Food and Rural Resources, will feature dozens of lectures, demonstrations, and meetings involving some 40 major agricultural organizations, committees, and agencies, as well as over 100 exhibits featuring the newest in agricultural products, equipment, and services.
This three-day event has something for everyone. It provides an atmosphere for everyone to walk through, observe, and educate themselves about the different areas of agriculture.

AUGUSTA, Maine – Three hundred and fifty 9 to 14 year olds made up the 47 Maine teams competing this Saturday at the 11th Annual FIRST™ LEGO® League Competition, held at the Augusta Civic Center.  Sponsored by Maine Robotics, the high-tech competition is the culmination of the September to December season.  The event was attended by the children, some 60 coaches, 80 volunteers and another 600 spectators.

This year’s theme in the International Competition is Body Forward and involved having the teams learning about biomedical engineering.  Each team will have researched a biomedical topic or health problem and will present their findings to the judging panels along with their possible solutions.  The teams have also been building and programming LEGO® Robots to compete on a playing field where they will need to fix broken bones, apply a cast, sort blood cells, dispense medicine, identify bad cells, do nerve mapping, and other missions.  The robots can
