Homeowner catches burglary suspect near her home

WATERVILLE, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- When Cindy Longstaff returned home last Wednesday, she encountered quite a surprise.

Longstaff says when she got home last Wednesday just after noontime, she discovered something wasn't right when she saw a bag and sweatshirt on her patio, and the cellar door propped open.

She immediately sprang into action, went into her house, and saw her husband's computer was missing.  She says after that, pure adrenaline kicked in.

"Instinct rather than thought prevailed, and I tore into the house, and said something like 'who is there?' and didn't see anybody.  I couldn't find anybody," Longstaff said.

Longstaff eventually caught the suspect hiding in a nearby shed.  She notified police and they arrested Jessica Savage and charged her with burglary, possession of a firearm by a felon, and theft.
