The Children's Discovery Museum held its "Run to Play 5K" Fundraiser on May 19th 2012 outside the KVYMCA in Augusta.
"Our "Run to Play 5K and Kid’s Fun Run was a huge success for us! It was wonderful to see families enjoying the great outdoors together, all while supporting the Museum," commented Executive Director Carrie Arsenault. "This fundraiser will continue to be an annual event for us in the future. Now more than ever, people are relying on our Museum for a fun, educational cost-effective experience. As with all of our fundraisers, the funds we raised will help us provide high quality programming and exhibits at minimal cost to the families and organizations in our community."
The Kid’s Fun Run began with warm-ups by Ryan King, from 3C Race Productions. The 22 children then ran around the field twice, all earning medals for completing the race. The 5K followed, with 78 runners, joggers and walkers. First place finishers were Greg Goodhue of Sidney with a time of 19:57 and Anne McKee of Augusta with a time of 21:36. There were also male and female winners in 6 age categories. Click HERE for the times for all registered participants.
The event brought in more than $6,300. A special thank you to major event sponsors Dr. Daniel J Benson of Augusta.
