Photo Gallery | Augusta Police arrest four people in connection with Maine Smoke Shop burglary

AUGUSTA, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Augusta Police Officers responded to the area of Western Avenue for a report of suspicious activity. After further investigation, officers determined that the Maine Smoke Shop had been burglarized at which point they arrested 32 year Scott Beckim of Augusta for Burglary, Theft, Criminal Mischief, Violation of Conditions of Release, and a Probation Hold along with 31 year old Kelly Strout of Augusta for Burglary, Theft and Criminal Mischief.  

This investigation was continued during the day by Augusta Police Detectives which led to a search warrant of the suspect’s residence. Upon execution of the warrant 28 year old Scott Coogan of Augusta and 31year old Gladys Fowler also of Augusta were found inside of the residence. Evidence discovered at the apartment, as well as further investigation by Detectives led to charges against Coogan for Burglary, Theft, Criminal Mischief, Violating Conditions of Release and four outstanding bench warrants and  against Fowler for Receiving Stolen Property, one outstanding bench warrant and a Probation hold. All four are still in custody at the Kennebec County Correctional Facility.
